Trained as a journalist, I’ve written about all manner of subjects (from Advertising to Zumba) in newsrooms in Canada and the U.S., and as a freelancer.
I was a theater critic and arts journalist in Chicago for ten years, freelancing for The Reader, Tribune, and Sun-Times.
I started teaching while in Chicago, but really found my home in the classroom at Queens University of Charlotte. I worked in the Writing Center for five years. I’ve also taught English, American Studies, Communications and more.
Now, I write features, edit, coach graduate students in writing academic projects, and teach writing. I consult with students on resumes, cover letters, essays, grad school applications, and more. I consult with small businesses on marketing materials and web presence. Oh, and I also find time to write short stories to justify my MFA in fiction.
I am passionate about writing, value effective communication, and work diligently to enhance other writers’ confidence in their own abilities.
Specialties: writing, editing, proofreading, coaching writing, active reading, active listening, public speaking, and teaching dynamically.
